Fine gold zari lines cross the soft grey body of this Thirubuvanam silk saree, boxing in small silver buttas across the whole field. The magenta border is filled with gold rudraksham roundels and annam birds set between zigzag bands, and the same work repeats on the pallu. Grey is an unusual ground for a temple town silk and it makes the gold read sharper. Thirubuvanam weavers have supplied the Kumbakonam silk trade for generations. A composed saree for daytime functions, office festivities and temple visits.

Thirubuvanam Silk
Woven in Thirubuvanam near Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, this pure mulberry silk is a close cousin of Kanchipuram, prized for its soft feel and vivid, lustrous colours. Fine zari borders and delicate buttas complete the look. A GI recognised weave loved for weddings, festivals and family celebrations.
