How to tell a real Raw Silk
Raw silk is silk that has been less processed, so it keeps the natural slub of the fibre. Look closely and you will see fine irregularities running through the cloth. Those are the fibre, not flaws, and a perfectly even surface with a high shine is usually not raw silk.
The finish is matte rather than glossy, and it has more body than a smooth silk, which is why it holds its shape rather than clinging.
Wearing it
Raw silk holds structure, so pleats stay where you put them and the drape keeps a clean line. That makes it a good choice for a reception or an evening event where you want a defined silhouette.
