Soft grey fills the body of this Kanchipuram silk saree and a deep maroon border banded with gold zari closes the drape. Grey with maroon reads modern while the weave stays entirely traditional. Pure mulberry silk gives the fall real weight, and the zari brightens with every step as the pleats move. Fine gold detailing marks the border edge. An elegant saree for receptions, office celebrations and family functions.

The craft
Kanchipuram Silk
Woven in the temple town of Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, from pure mulberry silk and real zari. Its hallmark is the korvai technique, where a contrast border and pallu are woven separately and interlocked to the body for lasting strength. Rich temple, check and floral motifs make it a treasured wedding heirloom.
