Fine gold zari lines cross the turquoise body of this mini Kanchipuram silk saree, laying a quiet check over the whole drape. The lighter weight that gives the mini Kanchipuram its name makes it easy to wear through a long day while keeping the sheen of pure silk. The zari catches the light as the pleats move and warms the cool blue green. It is woven on handlooms at Arni, a town that has supplied South Indian silk for generations. A versatile saree for temple mornings, office festivities and daytime functions.

The craft
Kanchipuram Silk
Woven in the temple town of Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, from pure mulberry silk and real zari. Its hallmark is the korvai technique, where a contrast border and pallu are woven separately and interlocked to the body for lasting strength. Rich temple, check and floral motifs make it a treasured wedding heirloom.
