A deep maroon soft silk Kanchipuram saree, lighter in hand than pure silk and easier to carry through a long day. Gold zari buttas sit across the body and the border carries twin parrot motifs, the jodi kili that South Indian weavers have long used for love and companionship. Soft silk takes colour with a satin glow and the pleats fall smoothly as you walk. A comfortable and elegant saree for temple visits, office celebrations and family functions.

The craft
Kanchipuram Silk
Woven in the temple town of Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, from pure mulberry silk and real zari. Its hallmark is the korvai technique, where a contrast border and pallu are woven separately and interlocked to the body for lasting strength. Rich temple, check and floral motifs make it a treasured wedding heirloom.
