Deep magenta runs the length of this Thirubuvanam silk saree, bright and even, its fancy vari border worked in close gold zari. Peacock feathers fan along that border between ribbed bands, each eye picked out in zari, the feather standing for beauty in South Indian weaving. A single gold butta sits on the body above. The silk is dense and holds its fall. A dignified saree for weddings, temple festivals and family celebrations.

Thirubuvanam Silk
Woven in Thirubuvanam near Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, this pure mulberry silk is a close cousin of Kanchipuram, prized for its soft feel and vivid, lustrous colours. Fine zari borders and delicate buttas complete the look. A GI recognised weave loved for weddings, festivals and family celebrations.
