Parrot green fills the body of this Kanchipuram silk saree with zari peacocks placed as buttas across it, the peacock being the emblem of grace. A dark peach border and pallu warm the brightness and give the saree its classic South Indian balance, all of it woven in pure two gram zari so the gold holds the light. The mulberry silk drapes beautifully and shines as the pleats move. A festive saree for weddings, Navratri and family celebrations.

The craft
Kanchipuram Silk
Woven in the temple town of Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, from pure mulberry silk and real zari. Its hallmark is the korvai technique, where a contrast border and pallu are woven separately and interlocked to the body for lasting strength. Rich temple, check and floral motifs make it a treasured wedding heirloom.
